It was tons of fun talking with our visitors, some new and many returning from previous shows, which appeared to be enjoying themselves as well. It was good to see many attending from other clubs too. Included were Golden Spike, Timpanogos and Tooele, to mention a few.
The biggest hit of all, as most will agree, was the Silent Auction (not all that silent). Jeff again came through for us, taking responsibility for the set-up and coordination of this exciting portion of our event. It was profitable for the club and a blast for the participants.
Carma Tenney did a Super Job organizing and overseeing our Door Prizes, as I understand she has done in the past as well. Carma was responsible also for helping get the show on road with table coverings, Linda Briggs & others helping, etc. Great Job, Carma. We appreciate you!
Thank you to those members, friends, vendors and businesses who donated such a wonderful array of prizes. So many people were just thrilled at hearing their name called over the loudspeaker or getting that surprise phone call from Carma.
Debbie Pendleton, Shauna Bauer and several others helped with our Wheel of Fortune, a delight for the kids, who returned over & over again to win some very cool prizes, many of which were hand made and donated by our generous members.
Leonard Taylor and others took charge of the Rock Bags, another favorite of the Children, from school classes that visited and families alike. There were items at the show to fit every pocketbook. Thanks Leonard.
Demonstrations where under way during most of the show as well, presented by Paul Cooper, Jim Record, Leo Briggs and others, making our hobby even more interesting to those attending. Thanks, to all who helped by sharing their skills and knowledge.
Reenie, you are Awesome, as one of our clubs most knowledgeable members. Those kids just love that Show & Tell table and it is a big, big asset to the show. It gets better every year.
Kelly Brady and Frank Nelson welcomed visitors and helped with admission and door prize tickets, which at times got a little hectic. They handled things well and in the process also welcomed many new members into our club. Thanks guys.
The Display Cases were Shauna Bauer's project this year and her first time at it. Good work Shauna. The cases looked fabulous and everyone who came to the Show enjoyed the creative, fascinating and gorgeous, displayed treasures. Thank you to Shauna and all of our fine collectors who were kind enough to share something they love.
We appreciate our Vendors for the wonderful displays and many beautiful and interesting items they offered for sale. I hope it was a pleasant and profitable experience for all.
I am so grateful for the Time and energy put in by our men to build and tear-down all of the wood work for the displays. We have got several good carpenters in our group and I hesitate to mention names, so to avoid forgetting any single one. You all did a superb job and in record time. I couldn't believe how fast everything came together. Wow!
We will work this year to evaluate the past show and continue with all those things we found to be a success and have already started discussing new things to introduce next year, one being a club history booth. Please share any ideas or requests with me or our Board that you feel would be good additions or changes. Planning ahead for next year, we have made the decision to stay in the same building for at least one more year, considering any change after that show. Our tentative dates at this point are going to be April 29, 30 and May 1, 2011.
This was my first year as Show Chairman and a load of fun, while also being quite a learning experience. I am so impressed with the teamwork that was displayed. There are several not mentioned above, but who are equally appreciated. Thanks again!
